 | Develop critical thinking, communication
and cooperation skills through inquiry-based, hands-on activities.
Ms. Jones*, a teacher of young learners, encourages the interest and questions that arise
when a parent donates a glass tank. The children make lists and debate the pros and
cons of ideas for the tank. They hold many opinions, but finally concur. It
will be an aquarium. |

 | Create a community of learners.
Provide the time, space and open-ended materials to develop a deep understanding of
concepts. Over the next several days the children work in pairs, small
groups and individually. They record what they know and what they want to
learn. They begin to answer their own questions, guided by Ms. Jones. They
use KIDWARE and other sources to learn about water life.
