Emphasize a meaningful context for learning.
Anthony placed characters in the City school yard.   As he moved a child in a wheelchair next to the swing set, he wondered, "How do children in wheelchairs swing?"

Use diverse evaluation strategies.  Barbara Harper from Chula Vista, California, found KIDWARE helpful in evaluating a child with severe speech delays.  Because of this child's limited communication abilities, he was difficult to assess.  The computer provided a "window to his mind" by helping him demonstrate his understandings.  Using the computer, he recognized and responded to his name and to many of the pictures and words in KIDWARE.  He delighted in displaying his name on three computers at the same time.  Barbara said, "The computer made it all possible and gave him a great deal of self-esteem.  It was wonderful."

"THE COMPUTER MADE IT ALL POSSIBLE..."
